Chief of Finance
As Chief of Finance at the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), Rupesh Acharya leads the Finance and Accounts functions, as well as the Legal and Board Secretariat teams. He is responsible for financial strategy, risk management, and long-term planning and his work spans FP&A, expenditure oversight, process automation, enhancements in accounting, taxation, and treasury operations. He also focuses on strengthening NPCI’s legal framework and upholding governance standards.
Rupesh has over 25 years of experience in manufacturing, IT, and financial services. Before NPCI, he was CFO at IDFC Asset Management Company Ltd. for nearly 12 years and part of its Executive Committee. His earlier roles included positions at NOCIL, Patni Computers, and ICICI Securities, covering financial accounting, taxation, ERP implementation, and MIS. Rupesh is a commerce graduate from Mumbai University and holds CS, CA, and CWA qualifications, earning All India Ranks in both CA and CWA.
Outside work, Rupesh enjoys trekking, particularly in the Himalayas and Sahyadris. He mentors teenagers through a school-based programme focused on sustainable development. His hobbies include reading, playing the tabla, and nature photography.
