Mr. Hemant Verma

Mr. Hemant Verma is presently working as Chief General Manager- Information Technology Division, Punjab National Bank. He is presently tasked with aligning Bank’s Information Technology Strategy with its Business Strategy and implement IT initiatives so as to ensure technology driven easy and efficient banking experience for all. Presently, he is also assigned the role of Nominee Director on the Board of National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI).

With over 30 years of experience and a demonstrated history of expertise in Banking Technology, Data Warehousing, Data Centre Management, Data Analysis, Network & Information Security, Project Management and Business Development, he is a proficient and remarkable Banking visionary who has brought about a multitude of technological advancements in the Banking Industry While he has worked in Network & Security during his initial years and headed Data Centre operations as Deputy General Manager in erstwhile Oriental Bank of Commerce, with his resilience adaptability and strong business acumen, he was appointed as Chief Technology Officer, thereby heading its IT Department and driving major IT projects such as Enterprise Fraud Risk Management, Early Warning Signal & Risk based Supervision Some of his key professional achievements in the areas of Technology, Payment systems, Transaction Processing and other Banking domains are in the form of following awards won by him: The Asian Banker Financial Technology Innovation Awards’21, IBA Banking Technology Awards’19-20, ET-BFSI Excellence Awards’20, and SAPP India’s Most Agile CIOs’23.

Academically, he has done his Bachelors in Computer Engineering from Nagpur University and he is also a Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), which is among the most prestigious IT audit certifications in the world.
