Mr. Rajendra Kumar Saraf holds a Master’s degree in from IIT Kanpur and a diploma in financial management. He is an Associate of IIB and Fellow of the Insurance Institute of India. He is a seasoned professional with four decades of rich and varied experience with State Bank of India (SBI) in top management and senior leadership roles in diverse and challenging assignments in India and abroad. He has had long years of experience heading IT Vertical of SBI. He was responsible for roll-out of complex IT projects of unparalleled scale and managing full lifecycle IT projects and IT infrastructure in almost all areas such as Core Banking, Payment Systems, Digital Channels, Cards, Merchant Acquiring, Mobile Banking, Networking and Enterprise Data Warehousing, etc.
After his superannuation as Deputy Managing Director & Chief Financial Officer of SBI, Mr Saraf has mentored two new initiatives conceptualised by RBI, viz., Bharat Bill Payment System (BBPS) and an Online Exchange for MSME Trade Receivables Discounting (TReDS), from the drawing board stage to commercial launch. He serves on a few Boards and heads IT Strategy Committee of a listed NBFC and a payments bank. He is also engaged as a Senior IT Advisor and a member of Expert Advisory Group of the National Bank for Financing Infrastructure and Development (NaBFID). In the past Mr Saraf has served on many committees constituted by RBI, IBA and Govt. of India.
