Launch of StartUPI conversations at PUNE
NPCI, the Presenting partner of the StartUPIndiaconversations hosted the first edition of this series in Pune. The event is designed for the fintechstartup community to connect, catalyze and motivate startup ecosystem in Tier-2 cities. The idea is to build merchant & lead bank engagement in Tier-2 centers. Cities targeted are Pune, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Indore, Ahmedabad and Nashik.
Trainings organised for frontline staff of Indian Western Railways
NPCI has taken a step to make the railway booking counter, a cashless one through enablement of UPI. Indian Railway has given a go ahead to NPCI in Northern and Western zone for conduct training on UPI. The objective was to make ticket counter cashiers understand the technicality of booking both reserved and un-reserved tickets using UPI. First training of railway window cashiers was done on 15 Jan'19 for Paharganj, Delhi and Church gate, Mumbai. This engagement will help commuters to book ticket conveniently without having cash in their hand.

RuPay Discover Global Cards touch 60 million issuances
National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) reached a milestone of issuing 60 million RuPay Discover Global cards, since first issuing it in 2014. NPCI which manages the RuPay card network in the country issues Discover cards for payments outside India. It can be used at more than 44 million point of sale terminals across 190 countries. The RuPay Global Debit and Credit cards are currently issued by 40 banks. They can be used for purchases at merchant locations and cash withdrawals outside India on the Discover Global Network. The Discover Global Network includes Discover Network, Diners Club International, PULSE and affiliated networks.
